DePaul University censors “Unborn Lives Matter” posters
This week, the nation’s largest Catholic university banned certain pro-life posters from its campus. College Republicans at DePaul University in Chicago wanted to display posters reading “Unborn Lives Matter.” DePaul president Father Dennis Holtschneider said posters contained “bigotry under the cover of free speech,” and he feared the posters’ wording might anger members of the Black Lives Matter movement. DePaul College Republican Gabriella Calderone said pro-life students have had issues in the past getting pro-life posters approved, but were still shocked at the school’s decision. “It’s just unacceptable that a Catholic school is denying pro-life messages,” she said. The College Republicans have reached out to the Chicago archdiocese for support and plan to keep pushing their poster campaign.
