DC transit cop charged with aiding ISIS
FBI agents today arrested and charged a Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area Transit Authority officer for attempting to aid Islamic State terrorists. Nicholas Young, who has been under observation since 2010, is the first U.S. law enforcement official charged with supporting ISIS. Young had connections to several people convicted of supporting terrorists or plotting terror attacks on U.S. soil. He also is charged with buying gift cards to help fund ISIS, giving them to an FBI informant posing as a terror-sympathizer who had traveled to Syria. Young visited Libya in 2011, claiming he wanted to work with rebels attempting to overthrow Moammar Gaddafi, and was allegedly planning another trip. Young worked as a Metro police officer since 2003, but officials do not believe any part of the transit system was at risk during the time they spent observing and building a case against him.
