China takes trade complaints to WTO

China on Monday said it filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization against the United States’ imposing additional tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports. China’s Commerce Ministry confirmed the move in a brief statement on its website. The WTO complaint comes less than a week after the United States published another list of proposed tariffs in retaliation for China’s instituting similar penalties in a back-and-forth trade spat. China now only has about $80 billion unpenalized exports to the United States out of more than $460 billion annually.
