China names kindergarten bombing suspect

Chinese police on Friday identified the man who detonated a bomb in front of a kindergarten in eastern China, killing eight people and injuring 65 others. Police released only his last name, Xu, and said the 22-year-old died in the attack. Security officials confirmed his identity with security camera footage and DNA samples from the scene of the blast. They also found materials for making a homemade bomb in his house. Police did not confirm the motive behind the attack but said Xu left school due to a nervous system disorder. The bombing is the latest in a string of recurring attacks on Chinese schools and students. Security officials have said most of the attackers suffered either from mental illness or are frustrated at society.
