Cause of Russian plane crash remains unknown

Investigators on Monday continued to search for clues to what caused a plane crash in Russia Sunday that killed all 71 people on board. The A-148 regional jet operated by Saratov Airlines disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport, crashing into a field about 25 miles from the airport. The casualties included six crew members and 65 passengers, who ranged in age from 5 to 79. Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said the search for the remains of victims could take a week. Investigators have ruled out a terror attack as the cause of the crash. Sokolov said the emergency teams have found the plane’s flight data recorder, which could help reveal the cause of the crash. Authorities said the pilots did not report any problems after takeoff.
