Category 4 Jose hurtles toward Caribbean

Hurricane Jose has become a Category 4 storm, threatening some of the Caribbean islands already devastated by Hurricane Irma. Meteorology director Jeff Masters at Weather Underground said the islands hit hardest by Irma—namely Barbuda, St. Martin, and Anguila—will mostly suffer tropical storm force winds and heavy rains. That will hamper relief efforts, but Masters said it was “nothing compared to what they already went through.” Jose has top sustained winds of 150 mph as it tracks toward the northern Leeward Islands at 18 mph.
