Cash App founder fatally stabbed in San Francisco

Bob Lee’s colleagues from the cryptocurrency exchange MobileCoin on Wednesday confirmed his death. Lee was working as chief product officer for MobileCoin, but had founded Cash App and previously served as the chief technology officer for Square. He was visiting San Francisco when the stabbing occurred in the densely populated Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco near downtown. He had recently moved to Miami from San Francisco, reportedly because of concerns about rising crime rates. Lee, 43, had an estimated net worth of about $10 million.

What exactly happened? Police responded to a 911 call at roughly 2:30 am on Tuesday morning. They found Lee on the sidewalk in front of a condominium, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. Homicide rates in San Francisco have risen by 20 percent this year compared to last year, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
