Car rams exercise group in China, killing dozens
A 62-year-old man drove his vehicle into a crowd of people exercising outdoors in the city of Zhuhai, the South China Morning Post reported Monday. The suspect killed 35 people and injured 43 others, according to the Post. The pro-Beijing news outlet also reported that the driver tried to kill himself before authorities brought him to the hospital.
What does the Chinese government have to say? The government heavily censored internet content about the incident, both BBC and CBS reported. The state-run Xinhua News Agency reported that Chinese leader Xi Jinping ordered that the driver be punished according to the law and urged authorities to do their best to treat those who were injured.
