Death toll rises to 11 in California shooting
Police searched for a motive on Monday for the 72-year-old Vietnamese gunman who killed 11 people and wounded 10 others Saturday night at a dance hall east of Los Angeles. All the victims were over 50 and of East Asian descent. Authorities said the gunman frequented the dance hall and reportedly gave free lessons occasionally. His ex-wife told CNN that was where they first met.
What happened to the shooter? Authorities found the shooter dead on Sunday after apparently shooting himself. Photographs showed his body in the front seat of a white cargo van. Witnesses said he escaped the scene of what could have been the site of a second shooting at another dance hall 20 to 30 minutes later in that van. At the second dance hall, individuals wrestled the gunman’s firearm away from him but could not detain him before he escaped.
