British lawmaker shot to death
British legislator Jo Cox was shot to death today in a small town she represents in Parliament. Police have arrested a 52-year-old man in the shooting. He is believed to have acted alone. Cox, 41, was a member of the Labour Party who advocated for civilian victims in Syria. The Washington Post reported witnesses to the shooting said the attacker yelled, “Britain first,” the name and slogan of a group that protests the immigration of Muslims. The group has denied any involvement in the attack. “We have lost a great star,” Prime Minister David Cameron said. “She was a great campaigning MP with huge compassion and a big heart.”
