Biden says not enough votes to pass abortion law
President Joe Biden on Monday said that he didn’t believe Democrats would have enough seats in the next Congress to codify a right to abortion in federal law. Democrats performed stronger than expected in the midterm elections last week, but they are expected to lose control of the House. Biden told reporters that voters should expect more of the status quo with regard to protections for the unborn.
What will Congress look like now? Not all election results are in, but Republicans will likely take a slight lead in the House of Representatives. Democrats have already secured control of the Senate with 50 seats plus Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote.
