Authorities discuss motive in Florida shooting

Jacksonville, Fla., Sheriff T.K. Waters on Sunday said the man who killed three people at a Dollar General wrote several manifestos before the attack. “This shooting was racially motivated, and he hated black people,” Waters said of the 21-year-old shooter. During the attack, the shooter texted his father, who found a suicide note, a will, and racist writings on his son’s computer. The family notified authorities, but by then, the shooting had already begun, the sheriff said.

Who were the victims? Angela Michelle Carr, 52, was shot in her car outside. Store employee A.J. Laguerre, 19, was shot as he tried to flee, and customer Jerrald Gallion, 29, was shot as he entered the store. All of them were black. The shooter, who was white, killed himself at the scene.
