At least 32 dead in tornadoes across U.S.

Residents in communities from Arkansas to Delaware on Sunday rushed to assess the damage from the storms as the death toll climbed. Confirmed or suspected tornadoes struck several states, hammering buildings and ripping apart trees. Tens of thousands of people across the affected states lost power. President Joe Biden declared major disasters across broad swaths of the country, freeing up federal funding to help communities recover.

How many tornadoes were involved? There could have been dozens, but it will likely take days to confirm how many there were and exactly where they struck. One EF3 tornado pounded Little Rock, Ark. The National Weather Service also confirmed that a tornado hit several buildings in Bridgeville, Del., killing at least one person.
