At least 26 dead in fireworks blast in Mexico
An explosion at a well-known fireworks market outside Mexico City killed at least 26 people and injured scores more, a Mexico state prosecutor said. Fireworks are popular in Mexico in the holiday season, and the San Pablito Market in Tultepec is one of the best-known places in the country to buy them. The initial explosion happened around 2:30 p.m., witnesses said, but fireworks continued to pop long after. Firefighters said they could not stop additional explosions from happening, and they asked people to stay 3 miles away from the scene. Some nearby homes were damaged, as well.
