At least 10 dead after mass shooting in Sweden

The gunman who opened fire at an adult education center in Örebro was among the deceased, Swedish news outlet Dagens Nyheter reported on Tuesday. Six other victims were injured and receiving treatment at a local hospital, the outlet reported. At least one of them was in serious condition, but others had only suffered mild injuries or had stabilized. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed his condolences to the victims and their relatives.

What happened? Police received an alert about the shooting at the Risbergska School around 12:30 p.m. local time, Dagens Nyheter reported. Police were fired upon when they arrived on the scene but no officers suffered injuries. Authorities did not say whether the nine deceased victims were students or teachers, but they believed the perpetrator acted alone, the outlet reported.
