American soldiers injured after Iranian-backed attack on U.S. air base in Iraq
U.S. Central Command on Saturday reported that the Al-Asad air base’s missile defense systems knocked down most of the missiles launched at the base, but some still struck their mark. The attack wounded at least one Iraqi soldier, and several U.S. troops were receiving treatment for traumatic brain injuries. The U.S. military blamed the attack on Iran-backed militants in the region.

The U.S. military is continuing its airstrike-based response to Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who have been attacking commercial shipping routes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
