Al-Shabab beheads nine in civilian attack in Kenya
Al-Shabab extremists from Somalia beheaded nine civilians in an early-morning attack Saturday on a village in southeast Kenya, according to government officials. The attack occurred in Jima in Lamu County, said James Ole Serian, a leader of a task force of security agencies combating al-Shabab. A police report said about 15 al-Shabab fighters attacked the village and seized men, killing them with knives. Al-Shabab, which has increased its attacks in the East African country in recent weeks, has vowed retribution on Kenya for sending troops to Somalia in 2011 to fight the deadly al-Qaeda-linked terror group.
