Al-Shabaab detonates car bomb in Mogadishu
Al-Shabaab has claimed another terror attack in the Somali capital Mogadishu, killing at least 15 people. A suicide bomber driving a milk delivery truck detonated his explosives at a government district headquarters. The death toll is expected to rise due to the severe injuries suffered by survivors. Most victims were civilians. Last week, four al-Shabaab militants attacked a popular hotel and restaurant in Mogadishu, killing at least 31 people. The Islamic extremist group is now Africa’s deadliest. It stepped up attacks earlier this year after the Somali government launched a new offensive against it in April. The group killed more than 4,200 people in 2016. U.S. President Donald Trump has authorized expanded operations against the group.
