A weekend of pro-abortion threats, protests

Roughly 100 pro-abortion activists showed up at the houses of two Supreme Court justices over the weekend. Outside the Washington-area homes of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts, they shouted, “We will not go back!” in reference to the court’s anticipated ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. Roberts is not believed to be on board with Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion that leaked last week, sparking nationwide pro-abortion demonstrations. In Madison, Wis., on Sunday morning, someone spray-painted a threat and set a fire at the headquarters of Wisconsin Family Action, a pro-life group. No one was hurt.

Will the justices bow to the pressure? Justice Clarence Thomas, who is thought to support letting states set their own abortion regulations, told a judicial conference in Atlanta that mob rule will not inform the court’s decisions: “We can’t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want.”
