10 dead, dozens injured in Pakistani car bombing

A car bomb detonated in southwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, killing at least 10 people, according to Balochistan province Health Minister Bakht Kakar. At least 30 other people were injured from the blast, six of whom were in critical condition, he said. Kakar said two of the dead were law enforcement officials, and the remaining eight were civilians. Locals described feeling the blast throughout surrounding neighborhoods and hearing gunfire afterward.

Who was behind the attack? No group has formally claimed responsibility for the blast, which occurred outside a paramilitary compound in Balochistan’s capital city of Quetta. Officials believe six militants were inside the car before the explosion, all of whom are dead. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the suicide bombing on Tuesday morning and blamed a pro-India extremist group, Fitna-e-Khawarij.
