MARY REICHARD, HOST: Call this one … no one left behind.

In New Zealand a hiker had to be rescued after a serious fall.

But in the rush, her best friend was left behind.

Alone in rugged backcountry for almost a week.

SOUND: [Helicopter rotor]

So a small team went back—this time for Molly, a border collie.

Using thermal cameras, they spotted the pooch not far from where her owner fell.

A rescuer climbed out and lifted Molly to safety by helicopter.

SOUND: [REUNION LAUGHTER/CRYING]

No words needed. Just relief.

And a reminder: The rescue isn’t finished until everyone’s on board.
