MEGAN BASHAM, HOST: No doubt you’ve noticed people walking around city streets with their heads down looking at their cell phones. Sort of like… zombies?
It’s a serious safety hazard. Folks walk right out in front of moving traffic.
So officials in Tel Aviv decided to do something about it.

They installed what they call “zombie traffic lights” along the sidewalks by intersections. The colorful LED lights jolt pedestrians to look up from their phones and pay attention.
The idea is to break the smartphone trance and help keep cell phone zombies alive and well.
