Kicker: Too good to be true

MARY REICHARD, HOST: You’ve heard if something sounds too good to be true? It probably is.

A Hollywood auction house listed for sale the lightsaber it said actor Mark Hamill used in the original Star Wars movie from 1977. It even came with a letter of authenticity by set decorator Roger Christian.

LUKE SKYWALKER: What is it?

OBE WAN KENOBI: Your father’s lightsaber. It’s the weapon of a Jedi knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized day. [Laser]

But Hamill posted a Tweet raising doubts about that. He said they used many lightsabers during filming, not just one. So the auction house withdrew the lightsaber, until it could resolve the inconsistencies.

Meantime, if you are a Star Wars fan you can bid on a pair of C-3PO hands or an autographed stormtrooper helmet.
