WORLD Radio - Kicker: The 24-hour-rule

MEGAN BASHAM, HOST: It’s not a good idea to eat food you find lying in the middle of the road.

You probably already know that, right?

REICHARD: Yeah, like the five second rule applies?

Right, and certainly a 24-hour-rule applies! But the sheriff’s office in Cherokee, Alabama had to say it anyway.

An 18-wheeler carrying crates of chicken tenders crashed on Alabama Hwy. 35 and spilled boxes of the tasty morsels onto the roadway.

Motorists stopped to pick up the food, which police say created a traffic hazard. The sheriff’s office noted it is a crime to block traffic, and violators could face charges.

And health officials warned that the chicken isn’t safe to eat anyway after hours on the ground.

REICHARD: Ya think?

It’s The World and Everything in It.
