MARY REICHARD, HOST: This Halloween, officials in one Virginia city are hoping to scare away teenage trick-or-treaters and anyone who might ring a doorbell a little too late.
According to a city ordinance in Chesapeake, anyone over age 12 attempting to trick-or-treat is committing a misdemeanor punishable with up to a $100 fine and six months in jail!
The ordinance also prohibits any trick-or-treating after 8 p.m. Violations could result in a $100 fine and 30 days in jail.
A steep price to pay for M&Ms and candy corn!
