MARY REICHARD: A good Samaritan spotted something worrisome while strolling through a park in Huntington Beach, California recently: a Canada goose passed out on its back with its feet pointed to the clouds.
Nearby, other birds stumbled around in circles…
It was almost as though they were drunk or drugged.
A call to the Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center, led to the discovery…The birds were, in fact, on drugs.
Someone had dumped hundreds of prescription medication pills at the park … and some of the local birds, probably thinking the pills were grain, gobbled them up.
Wildlife officials flushed the birds’ systems with IV fluids. I’m happy to report the feathered fowl made a complete recovery.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
