MEGAN BASHAM, HOST: A 76-year-old grandfather from Connecticut is on a mission to spread a very simple message. And he’s spreading it with his walking shoes.
Al Forte is walking from Yankee Stadium to Fenway Park, always wearing a t-shirt bearing his message: Pray for peace.
Forte began his trek after a Red Sox-Yankees game last month and he plans to arrive in Boston in time for the next one.
He told News 12 Connecticut when he gets tired, he just refuels on the go.
FORTE: Just a bite of a protein bar and a handful of nuts. And it’s amazing the energy it gives you back.
Along the way, he passes out cards with a picture of American soldiers in Iraq huddled together praying.
FORTE: And somebody sent me the picture, and there’s no better picture of a group of people praying for peace, because they have the ultimate price to pay.
A few blisters along the way, he says, is a small price to pay to get more people praying.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
