MYRNA BROWN, HOST: If Williamstown, New Jersey ever needs a mascot, it need look no further than Rex, the wandering wallaby.

Rex slipped out of the animal sanctuary there last week—and hopped away.

The sanctuary put out an APB on the meandering marsupial, and concerned animal lovers turned up to help, even a drone company got involved.

Someone spotted Rex behind a Walmart about a half mile away.

Audio from WPVI-TV.

AUDIO: We were about to leave the Walmart parking lot and I saw something moving right behind the fence and I, like, screamed, ‘like, stop, like I think I see it.

Another group pulled up around the same time and helped wrangle Rex back to safety.

AUDIO: I got him.

The sanctuary threw Rex a welcome home party, got him some new toys, even an official Walmart vest, just in case he’s interested in a career as Walmart greeter.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
