WORLD Radio - Kicker: Ice cold beer

MARY REICHARD, HOST: Business is booming for an 11-year-old entrepreneur in Utah.

Young Seth Parker wanted to earn some money, so, sensibly, he offered cold drinks on a hot day.

But this was not your typical lemonade stand: The young man put up a sign reading: “Ice cold beer.”

Yeah, that drew attention in Utah.

Curious drivers stopped to check it out, and many left happily with bottles of Root Beer.

And his marketing ploy even attracted some media attention. KSL TV showed up.

PARKER: Hi, how many would you like?

Some locals weren’t amused and called the cops.

Seth had to accommodate them and so he added the word “root” in small letters above the much-bigger word “beer.”

When police arrived, they got the joke. They snapped a picture and put it up on Facebook—driving even more customers.

AUDIO: I’ve been laughing about this for two days. I think you’re amazing. Good job buddy.

He even got the attention of Senator Mitt Romney, who took to Twitter and told the kid, you’re gonna go far.

PARKER: Drink responsibly. Thank you so much! You’re welcome.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
