MARY REICHARD, HOST: Being kind is its own reward. A teenage waitress at a Waffle House in Galveston, Texas, saw an elderly man struggling to cut his ham. So 18-year old Evoni Williams acted.
She told CBS what the man told her:
WILLIAMS: Seems like my hand’s not working so good. I just got out of the hospital for it, and you could tell, you could tell, it was very very shaky.
Williams cheerfully stepped up to cut the meat for 78-year old Adrien Charpentier.
CHARPENTIER: I felt great that she done it for me. Very thankful.
Another customer snapped a picture and posted it on Facebook.
Texas Southern University saw it and awarded Williams a $16 thousand scholarship.
She plans to study business management. Looks like she already has the customer service part down pat.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
