NICK EICHER, HOST: The University of California, Berkeley has a reputation for being a bit … squirrely?
But this is just plain nuts.
Berkeley students have elected classmate Stephen Boyle to their Student Senate.
I should clarify, they elected the character he invented, “Furry Boi,” who made campaign appearances dressed in a squirrel suit.
Now Furry Boi — that B-O-I, by the way — Furry Boi’s early platform was easier access to acorns.
Berkeley students elected him.
One of the losing candidates said, “I think it’s a big community loss … we elected a squirrel.”
Some of Furry Boi’s senate colleagues say it just shows students don’t take student government seriously.
