WORLD Radio - Kicker: Football queen

MARY REICHARD, HOST: Mississippi high school senior Kaylee Foster was crowned homecoming queen earlier this month, with a tiara placed gracefully on her head.

And then, she took off her tiara and put on her helmet. Foster’s Ocean Springs High School football team was tied at 12 points with George County High School at the end of regulation.

Foster as team kicker scored two field goals, including the winning point.

Foster grew up playing soccer but started kicking for the football team sophomore year.

Her double win soon went viral and national news networks started calling.

She said she didn’t expect all this attention. But she did expect to split the uprights. She told CBS News:

FOSTER: I was just going out there to score an extra point, and now here we are.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
