MARY REICHARD, HOST: Chunky is hunky down in Texas where the state just wrapped up its first annual Fat Squirrel Week. It’s the brainchild of park ranger Carolanne Brannon at Meridian State Park. Audio from CBS:

BRANNON: The public is eating it up.

She was inspired by Alaska’s Fat Bear Week in which the public votes on which brown bear bulked up most to hibernate.

Sixteen squirrels with names like Chunk Norris, Nutella, and Stanley the Texas Tank competed. What’ll the victor get?

BRANNON: Bragging rights, first of all. They get to survive winter. Always a good thing.

And the winner is: Chunkasaurus Rex from Dinosaur Valley State Park!

LINDSAY MAST, HOST: We all gotta work on that winter bod, Mary.

REICHARD: It’s The World and Everything in It.
