MARY REICHARD, HOST: Some thought it was a prank when the University of Florida announced on April 1st that campus parking tickets could be paid with food donations. After all, it was also April Fool’s Day.
But last week— UF President Kent Fuchs tweeted that 2,000 tickets had been exchanged for nearly 10,000 donations.
It all went to the school’s outreach to needy students.
AUDIO: Welcome to the University of Florida Field and Fork Pantry. We fight to end student hunger because a full belly makes for a good student.
But don’t look for alligator meat in the pantry. That’s the school mascot.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
