Kicker: Black Sea seal

MARY REICHARD, HOST: Curiosity’s supposed to be for cats but no one told a young seal pup in the UK.

A homeowner near the North Sea found the 3-week old seal pup in his garden four miles inland.

Officials believe the pup may have traveled up a drainage system. It only had a couple of inches of water in it, so the pup may have continued in hopes of finding food or more water.

The baby seal was sickly and could have died of starvation if the homeowner hadn’t spotted him. But a local animal welfare group is now nursing him back to health, and he’ll soon be returned to the sea a good ways upshore from the drainage system.
