Kicker: Baseball’s opening day

MARY REICHARD, HOST: Today is Major League Baseball’s Opening Day. This is the earliest Opening Day in baseball’s nearly 150-year history.

The weather— and unruly fans— haven’t always cooperated.

In 1907, the New York Giants had to forfeit their Opening Day game to the Philadelphia Phillies when rowdy fans threw snowballs.

In 1940— Cleveland Indians pitcher Bob Feller threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Chicago White Sox— racking up the only no-hitter in Opening Day history.

But win or lose— there’s one sound all baseball fans want to hear today—
