MARY REICHARD, HOST: It’s a love story that you’ve likely not heard before.
The couple share an especially close bond. They cuddle together, sleep next to one another, and refuse to part ways.
When they are separated, they mourn for one another.
But the trouble is that the animal shelter where they live can’t find a home to take both of them.
You see, Jack is a donkey and Diane is an emu.
They were rescued from a rental home in South Carolina where they’d been abandoned along with several other animals.
Jennifer Gordon of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue says the shelter tried to separate them. But Jack brayed pitifully and Diane became frantic.
The donkey doesn’t even like the shelter’s other donkeys.
So maybe you enjoyed this little ditty ’bout Jack and Diane. Maybe it intrigues you enough to want to adopt. And if so, well, maybe give Carolina Waterfowl Rescue a call!
