MARY REICHARD, HOST: Columbia has battled violent drug cartels for decades.
You will not be surprised to know that a veteran Colombian cop has a bounty on her head.
But she doesn’t sound all that worried.
AUDIO: [Dog barks]
That’s Sombra, a 6-year-old German Shepherd police dog.
Her job is to sniff out illegal drugs. She’s a superstar. She does that like no other.
And the cartel knows it. That’s why it’s worth $70,000 to get her off their trail.
So far in her career, police say Sombra has sniffed out nine tons of cocaine hidden in suitcases, boats, and shipments of fruit. Her work has led to almost 250 arrests.
Now that’s taking a bite out of crime.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
