WORLD Radio - Kicker: A burpee world record

MEGAN BASHAM, HOST: A soldier in the army is waiting to hear from the folks at Guinness World Records. Bryan Abell may have set a new record … for burpees!

You know, those really tough exercises where you start with a push up.  Then you pop up into a squatting position, and leap in the air with arms overhead. And repeat?

Abell did burpees- get this- 4,689 times. And he did it in 12 hours!

Now that’s got to be some kind of record, right?

He did it for a good cause. His sister Katelyn Abell is Co-founder of the Stronger Warrior Foundation.

ABELL: Our mission is to help active and retired military men and women.

The group helps soldiers and veterans with financial aid and scholarships. It also sends care packages to troops stationed overseas.

The charity streamed Brian Abell’s fitness feat on Facebook … and raised $1,300 dollars. A good start.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
