MARY REICHARD, HOST: Imagine opening your mailbox to find letters practically pouring out—more than a hundred of them!
That’s exactly what happened to Stephanie Lay earlier this month and not just one time: several days in a row!
Lay told WCSH news…
LAY: Well I opened up the mailbox on Thursday, and I was like wow, I’ve never seen that many letters.
She received more than 500 of them in the span of five days—all from the same sender.
LAY: I thought that maybe someone was messing with me.
They kind of were, but it was not a prank. All of the letters came from United Health Care, but no one there has been able to explain the issue.
Most of the letters said the company was denying a payment of $54. And some say $0. The claims date back to 2016.
Lay said they’re for claims she never even filed.
But after 500 letters, she was amused by what she found printed at the bottom of each letter: the option that said, “Go paperless!”
It’s The World and Everything in It.
