Kicker: 40-year-old traffic ticket

It was an ordinary day at the Minersville Police Department in central Pennsylvania. Police Chief Michael Combs looked over the mail and opened what he thought was an ordinary letter.

But there was nothing ordinary about it.

Inside was a handwritten note and a $5 bill.

Turns out the cash was payment for a parking ticket from 1974.

Here’s what the note said:

“Dear PD, I’ve been carrying this ticket around for 40+ years. Always intending to pay. Forgive me if I don’t give you my info. With respect, Dave.”

The name scribbled above the fictitious return address on the envelope was “Feeling Guilty.”

The police chief told CBS Philly he was blown away that someone would hang onto a parking ticket that long, let alone pay it.
