MARY REICHARD, HOST: Helen Self is used to getting attention for her age. After all, she’s 109 years old!
But ever since she turned 100, she’s given new meaning to the term “senior discount.”
At her most recent birthday dinner, Helen loaded up. She had the breaded shrimp. The salad. The baked potato. Loaded! Oh, and the coleslaw. Total price: $14.99.
But here’s how the restaurant figured the discount: Helen got 1 percent off for each year of life.
Remember: 109 years means 109 percent.
Do the math on that and the total comes to $1.35, but the $1.35 goes to her!
I don’t know how you figure the tip on that!
It’s The World and Everything in It.
