Farewell, Jim Henry

MARY REICHARD: Before we go today, I have a sad duty.

Today we say goodbye to a friend and co-worker on this program. He’s been a steady voice and reliable story teller, and we will miss Jim Henry as he moves on to a new chapter in his life.

Jim, several of the team wanted to send personal greetings, so we’ll start with your partner in the newsroom, Kent Covington.

KENT COVINGTON: Jim, it’s been a pleasure working with you through the years. You were a part of this program almost from the start, and you’ve played such a huge role in helping to build WORLD Radio. And I want to say thank you for everything you’ve done here. You’ll definitely be missed.

KRISTEN FLAVIN: Hi Jim! It’s Kristen Flavin. You have taught me so much and it’s been an absolute joy to work with you. I wish you the best and may God bless you.

JOHNNY FRANKLIN: Jim, while you know we’re sad, you’re filled with glee—freed of late-night calls from Carl and me! God bless you and your family.

CARL PEETZ: And Jim, this is Carl Peetz. I’ll try to rhyme like Johnny, and I need to tell ya honestly, it’s hard to say so long, especially when it’s like the second verse of a song! We’ve worked together twice, both times it’s been nice, and I sure appreciate you and will miss you Mr. Henry.

PAUL BUTLER: You’re a gentleman, and a scholar, and a good judge…of lots of things! Blessings.

MARVIN AND SUSAN OLASKY: It’s Susan Olasky. And Marvin. I’ll miss your golden tones and kindness. We’ve enjoyed your true professionalism combined with a servant’s heart. May God bless the next lap in your race.

SARAH SCHWEINSBERG: Sarah Schweinsberg here. Jim, I’ll miss your humor and kindness. Thank you for all you’ve done for the show and for your co-workers.

MARY REICHARD: It’s Mary. Winnie the Pooh said, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Working with you is a joy, Jim. Best wishes.

NICK EICHER: Jim, I’m not saying goodbye. I’m saying thanks! Thanks for your hard work, thanks for your cheerfulness, and thanks for your great example. I agree with Mary, it’s terribly hard to say goodbye. So I’m just going to let the late, great Tom Petty do the job for me: “I won’t say goodbye, my friend, for you and I will meet again.” Many blessings to you, Jim.

JIM HENRY: Thank you, friends. It’s very difficult to say goodbye, but I’ll always cherish the memories of working with such a great group of people all doing the Lord’s work. It’s been an honor and God bless you all.
