LINDSAY MAST, HOST: Here we go, pizza at the speed of pizza.

SOUND: [Dough slapping, crowd cheering]

A Domino’s manager in Virginia can now make a credible claim to being the fastest pizza maker on Earth.

At the company’s world championship competition, Richard Delcid built three complete pizzas in 31 seconds: a pepperoni, a mushroom, and a cheese.

Competition rules required them to be good enough to serve paying customers. (Which is another subject for another day). But Delcid shattered the previous record by eight seconds.

He took home ten thousand dollars in prize money and bonuses.

SOUND: [Making pizzas in store]

He repeated the performance in his pizza kitchen back home and was asked, How are you feeling?

AUDIO: My heart’s beating! Ha ha!

A reminder that, for now at least, the world’s fastest pizza maker is still a person.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
