Schools around the nation continue to implement official procedures to help teenagers hide gender confusion from their parents. In one case, the deception led to a 14-year-old girl being assaulted, trafficked, and legally separated from her parents, after a judge ruled they were “abusive” for not affirming her identity as a male.
The girl, identified as “Sage,” is now safe with her family and recovering from the trauma. In the aftermath, she courageously partnered with Virginia Delegate David LaRock to introduce “Sage’s Law,” also known as the Child Protection Act. The law aims to protect vulnerable children from predators and further descent into gender confusion without proper evaluation and parental knowledge.
Let’s replicate this law in every state. When schools conceal gender identity from parents, they eliminate critical care and oversight from those that love that child most. Parents are the ones who will fight to the death to help their children, not public school bureaucrats and over-funded non-profits.
Sage’s Law includes three primary components that will protect teens from both physically and ideologically predatorial figures. It requires that school officials always notify parents of a child asserting a different gender and prevents school counselors from encouraging minors to keep that information private. Lastly, it eliminates the possibility that parents can be charged with abuse for raising their child according to their biological sex.
Encouraging children to conceal information from parents is a classic tactic of groomers, who know that families—who have their child’s best interest at heart—will thwart their devious plans. Popular TikTok influencer Jeffrey Marsh recently produced a video telling trans kids that “if you need a family, you can come hang out with me.” It is exceptionally creepy.
The Center for Child Protection notes that some of the top ways to groom a child for abuse includes targeting, isolating, and filling an emotional or physical need. Sage’s Law helps put a barrier between those with nefarious goals and the children who actually need serious mental health evaluations and care. With any other health condition, there’s no question that parents should be informed immediately. The school nurse cannot even give a student Tylenol without written parental consent.
Rather than recognizing gender dysphoria for what it is, an official mental health condition within the American Psychiatric Association, activists encourage teens to claim it as their authentic identity. They would not, however, urge depressed teens to embrace their depression—or teens with an eating disorder to accept their body dysmporphia as real. With gender dysphoria, which is often more of a cultural contagion than a true medical condition, there is an inexplicable departure from the norm.
As teenagers navigate this confusing time in their lives, they’re told of a magic solution. In reality, teenagers have always been uncomfortable in their bodies and must endure this timeless adolescent struggle.
Larger entities at play prove cash and Big Pharma are at the heart of the movement. Many families pay cash for surgeries worth thousands of dollars and some have even argued transition surgery should be publicly funded. It’s no surprise that much of this is traced back to a pile of activist billionaires.
To watch schools, activist groups, and even parents latch onto such clearly deceptive, corrupt, and unscientific trans ideology is stunning. Naturally, biological science lines up with the Genesis 1:27 truth that “God created man in his own image … male and female, He created them,” which is repeated multiple times throughout Scripture.
Obviously, abusive parents exist, and that’s why we have an overburdened child welfare system. However, parents striving to raise their biologically male or female child as such, are not abusive. In the case of Sage, her parents didn’t even know their daughter was identifying as a male and yet, they were still accused of abuse based on the girl’s testimony.
The end result? She was moved to a children’s home, where she was sexually assaulted a second time and then sex trafficked after escaping in fear. And it all began with the school’s decision to keep Sage’s parents in the dark about her preferred gender identity.
Sage will live with these multiple traumas for a lifetime. How many other innocents will we watch endure the true abuse of adults who shamelessly imprint their secular, progressive experiments onto them?
As Christians, we have a responsibility to protect children. As we saw with Roe v. Wade, our efforts and our voices matter. As more and more people recognize the atrocities coming out of the transgender movement, those collective voices will get louder. Sage’s Law is a good first step. Just ask Sage.
