One would think that pedophilia is the one taboo in the sexualization of our culture that is so detestable it will never be eroded. But this is only because, according to the prevailing minimalist sexual ethic, lack of full consent is the only moral violation one person can perform sexually against another. All else is fair game and is to be celebrated because of its consensual creativity and challenging of Judeo-Christian norms. Where two or more are freely gathered together sexually, let no man, woman, or non-binary person put anything asunder. That is Sexual Revolution 101.
But sex with children? Even the most libertine sexual revolutionary will still likely flinch, saying, “Sweet, innocent children cannot properly consent … and besides, that’s horrible!”
Well, the effort to challenge this last, final taboo has been adding a new and devious chapter of late that we all must understand. The folks driving this latest push met together last month at an undisclosed location in Ohio for what they advertised as a “professional conference.” It was ambitiously titled “Demystifying and Thriving: Understanding MAPs and Fostering Fulfilling Lives.” For the uninitiated, “MAPs” is the new effort to sanitize old-school pedophiles. They’re not pedophiles. Relax, they’re Minor Attracted Persons! Never mind that they are essentially all men.
The strategy is not to change repulsion for pedophilic activity (yet!) but rather to grow compassion and sensitivity for the pedophilic person. And the control of language is the first step in doing that. After all, isn’t that what won the day for same-sex marriage. “We simply seek ‘marriage equality,’” they said. The strategy is not to argue for the virtue of a distasteful thing straight up. Just seek a worldly version of compassion for the people seeking the thing. Once that is accomplished, normalization follows like emotional gravity.
The self-stated primary goal of this May conference was to “Increase competence and cultural humility in providing affirming, compassionate care for MAPs.” The second stated goal: “Recognize different levels of stigma and bias, and their effects on MAPs and providers.”
You see game being played here.
Gain some sense of compassion for the minor attracted person, because after all, as the organizers explain, “all people should recognize that no one chooses to be attracted to children.” Say it with me folks, “We’re just born that way.” As we had drilled into us from the orchestrators of the gay conquest, it is unfair to blame anyone for something nature gave them. Lady Gaga told us so.
The organization’s leaders claim, “vilifying [MAPs] for their feelings is unjust and harmful; it forces them into lives of secrecy and prevents them from getting help when needed, ultimately putting children at risk.” Yes, the children … and the adults who have these desires. Their 2019 Workshop in Baltimore was focused on “Compassionate and Informed Approaches for Supporting Minor-Attracted People.”
The name of the organization doing all this work is creatively called “B4U-ACT” positioning itself as a forum for responsible, safe pedophiles. Let that sink in.
A law journal article by Judith A. Reisman explains how some pro-pedophilia groups approvingly compare the strategic efforts of B4U-ACT to those who sought to get same-sex sexual behavior depathologized in the DSM in the late 1960s and early 1970s. A post at Boylove’s chat forum asserts what “B4U-Act is attempting to achieve is similar to what was done by gay activists with the APA in an earlier decade.” That is decoupling the attraction from its psychopathy while building sympathy for the individual.
There is more. Christina Buttons of the Manhattan Institute explains B4U-ACT “believes that attempts to alter pedophilic desires are not just ineffective but unethical, and it insists that efforts to reduce patients’ attraction to children through ‘reconditioning methods’ or sex-drive-reducing drugs are harmful—drawing direct comparisons to conversion therapy for homosexuality.”
A 2024 scholarly review of the development and use of the term “Minor Attracted Persons” in the academic journal Trauma, Violence & Abuse notes similarities borrowed from homosexuality’s rhetorical and political successes: “MAPs scholarship presents pedophiles as an oppressed sexual minority subject to undue discrimination and oppression.” The review notes unapprovingly, “This framing draws, implicitly and explicitly, on controversial comparisons between pedophilia and same-sex attraction.”
The Australian scholars who conducted this review also warn of “Strong claims in the MAPs literature that the stigmatization of sexual interest in children is the primary driver of child sexual abuse, and thus sexual interest in children should be socially and culturally normalized. …”
Thus, “‘MAPs’ is part of the nomenclature of contemporary pro-pedophile movements seeking social and legal rights for those with a sexual interest in children and is not a neutral or scientific synonym for pedophile.”
Be warned. No one should fall for the brazenly transparent repackaging of a man’s sexual interest in children, no matter what it is euphemistically called. The moral law dictates perversion will always be perversion.
