Traces of explosives found on EgyptAir crash victims
Egyptian officials investigating the May crash of an EgyptAir flight from Paris say they have found traces of explosives on the victims’ bodies. No group claimed responsibility for the accident. French investigators previously said the Airbus A320’s smoke detectors went off and sensors detected a fault in two cockpit windows immediately before the crash. Flight 804 went down in the Mediterranean Sea on May 19, killing 66 people. The crash happened seven months after an October 2015 crash over the Sinai Peninsula that killed 226 people. Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for that incident. Terror attacks in Egypt have decimated the country’s tourism industry, which forms a large part of the economy.
