Brexit advocate Boris Johnson won’t seek PM post
Former London Mayor Boris Johnson, who led the successful Brexit campaign, shocked supporters today by announcing he would not seek his party’s nomination for prime minister. Political analysts widely expected Johnson to succeed outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron, who announced he would step down after losing the Brexit vote. Conservative Party members now must choose between Home Secretary Theresa May, who sided with Cameron in the Brexit campaign, and Justice Secretary Michael Gove, who aligned himself with Johnson and the “Leavers.”
