At least in the case of the restrictions regarding the Perkins Coie firm, I believe the president has ample cause. The manufacture and use of the infamous Steele dossier was outrageous.
He may have good reason also for restrictions on other firms.
AKA Trump isn't as dumb as the mainstream media makes him out to be, but he's not as smart as he thinks he is. 🤷♂️

It is vengeance.
It is dictatorial.
It is brute power. bullying.
It is not right for Democrat or Republican Presidents to abuse power, as noted above, but like just about everything he has done, he has taken a legitimate premise and taken it way too far. Whether it be DOGE, immigration, the press, health care issues, whatever, he has been trying to use his power and seeing how much he can get away with, using the playbook of the dictators he admires and had him even visit (like last summer).
He has even taken legal help away from migrant children coming by themselves and made the "requirements" unrealistic to prove persecution.

The concern is a whole lot of evil here, under the disingenuous guise of "The ends justify the means."
You're mostly correct, but it's somewhat amusing to me when people act outraged like Trump is the only bad actor we've ever seen in DC. Let's call everyone out for their faults, evenly and objectively. Even when they use more subtle means than Donald Trump does.
And conversely, let's praise everyone for their good decisions evenly and objectively.
False equivalences will be the death of our democracy. No one is saying Trump is the only corrupt politician. To act like both sides and all politicians do the things he is doing is naive at best, and disingenuous at worst.
I agree with you that many of Trump's actions are problematic.
I agree with you that not all politicians are equally harmful.
I disagree that Trump is clearly worse than others.
The Democrat party's current embrace of Progressivism through the previous administration was charting a path towards the destruction of western civilization as we know it. It's harmful to the concepts of personal liberty and religious freedom. It's super destructive to the family. It's very harmful to children and women. It's anti-meritocracy, anti-capitalism and eventually it erodes personal motivation to try hard to build great things.
I view those problems as worse than Trump's many faults.

I don't regret voting independent in the last election.
