“We should start with imams of some mosques who preach anti-Semitism and hate against our nation.”

Obama’s Rev. Wright could be on the hook if we apply A.S.’s standard broadly:
“It’s not God bless America… it’s God damn America!”

I always appreciate your perspective in matters like these. If you write an opinion piece, I read it first. Thanks for sharing!

I normally really like what Ibrahim writes, but I'm pretty uneasy with this column. Do I want Islamic terrorists in the US? Of course not. But some of what he proposes has serious tension with freedom of religion and speech and I could see laws like that being used very badly in the wrong hands. Even freedom of thought is in question by some of what Ibrahim writes about sympathies. It doesn't feel very American.

I think this sounds unamerican to you because he is only talking about a subset of a broader category that at one time in this country was called “traitors”. In the last half century or so due to American’s general ignorance of our country’s founding principles, our almost forced embrace of a multicultural ethos, high rates of mobility and the loss of tight knit communities and a “mind your own d$&@ business” (thanks Tim Walz) it is considered bigotry to call out such actors. It is almost a crime to be your brothers keeper.

That’s a good point. Thanks.

Based on the honor thing among Arabs, etc. some may talk it up, but not really have the means or skills to pull anything off. That said, when our security people have identified possible threats, they can continually monitor them, making it easier to act way more quickly when it looks something is going to move from talk to action. Also, the rule of law can slow FBI action inside the walls of our nation while the CIA can essentially run wild on the outside.
